
Casey Vogt begins his second season as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Mercer University, after helping guide one of the NCAA Football Subdivision’s top offenses in 2013.
In his first season as offensive coordinator, the Bears averaged 449.6 yards of total offense and 38.3 points per game. Mercer also ranked second in the FCS in rushing in 2013, totaling 277.9 yards per contest. Vogt’s offensive line paved the way for rushing attack that recorded over 100 yards on the ground in all 12 games including over 300 yards rushing in six contests.
Vogt began his coaching career in 2000 as the graduate assistant offensive line coach for two seasons at his alma mater, Slippery Rock University. He then served as the graduate assistant offensive coach for the Green Wave of Tulane University during the 2003 season.
After his time in New Orleans, Vogt spent two seasons at Division II member Gannon University as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. In his first season he helped guide the team to a 9-1 record, while his offense averaged 438.5 yards per game.
He then transitioned to Youngstown State University as the tight ends coach and assistant offensive line coach for two seasons. With the Penguins, he helped capture two Gateway Conference Championships (now Missouri Valley Conference) and a No. 4 ranking in the nation in 2006.
Vogt spent his most recent tenure of five years with Colgate University (FCS) as the offensive line coach, including the last two years as the team’s recruiting coordinator. In 2008, he helped guide the Raiders to the Patriot League title. In his five years, he worked with six All-Patriot League selections and one first team All-American.
A 2000 graduate of Slippery Rock University, Vogt finished his playing career as a three-year starting defensive end. He was a key contributor to three consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships from 1997-99 and earned three PSAC Scholar-Athlete awards.
He and his wife, Amber, have two children, Parker and Stella.
